Company History: 1975 - Founded by Richard & Edith Saterbo, Colorado Boxed Beef Companies first four employees shipped a total of 29,000 pounds of boxed beef in its first week........1982 - CBBC staff had grown to 40 employees shipping nearly 500,000 pounds a week........1983 - The show must go on! Even when a fire destroyed a warehouse in November, CBBC shipped product to it’s customers the next night........1986 - CBBC’s product line had grown to include pork, veal, lamb, poultry, frozen vegetables, deli items, and seafood which allowed CBBC to expand into the cruise line industry........1991 - Company leadership is assumed by Bryan, Steve, and John Saterbo, who continue to manage the company today........1995 - With over 220 employees, sales grow to over $210 million........ 1997 - CBBC purchases Atlanta Provision Company forming Colorado Custom Distribution. The new acquisition increased the size and scope of Colorado significantly allowing us to better serve a larger customer base. Colorado Custom Distribution employs an additional 200 people........1999 - CBBC ranks in the top 10 on the Florida Trend list of the Top 200 Privately-Held Companies in Florida, in the top 20 of the Meat and Poultry Business Journal’s Top 100 Meat and Poultry Manufacturers in the nation and in the top 50 on their international list........2000 - CBBC begins marketing New Generation, fresh and frozen ground beef and chicken to foodservice and retail customers in March. Meat Processing runs a cover story about Colorado leading the way in the irradiated ground beef area. The company is named Processor of the Year by The National Provisioner in their June issue........2003- The company announces it’s intent to sell its specialty meat-cutting division and its affiliated broadline foodservice operation, J&B Foodservice to Houston based SYSCO Corporation in March. The sale was finalized in April. CBBC acquires the trucking operation formally known as Alterman Transport Lines, Inc. (ATL) now known as Alterman Transportation Group (ATG) in January........2004 - Colorado Boxed Beef Company completed their purchase of the distribution division of Houston based PREFCO Corp. in March.....
